Well, what a crazy couple of months it’s been so far! We’re sure you’re all well aware of the current situation and firstly we would just like to say how sorry we are if you, or one of your family members, have had a wedding or event affected by Coronavirus.
On 23rd March 2020, the Prime Minister announced a nationwide lockdown which made public gatherings, including weddings, no longer possible. Already by this point, Suffolk Registrars had taken the hard decision that they would only allow a ceremony to go ahead if it included no more than 6 guests (the couple, plus 4 other people present). This regulation will be in place until at least 30th June 2020. Understandably, the majority of our April, May, and June couples have decided to postpone their big day to a date later in the year, or even next year, as this is not the way they envisaged their ceremony to be held. We are working with each of them very closely to ensure that this is organised for them quickly. It’s also still very uncertain how the social distancing guidelines will impact weddings in general, and whether or not there will be continued restrictions on weddings once the “lockdown” has been lifted.
Usually April is the beginning of our busiest time of the year, but the usual hustle and bustle of busy wedding season on the farm has been replaced with a period of downtime. We’re taking the opportunity to get bits done around the farm that wouldn’t normally happen at this time of year, such as prepping for our Christmas parties.
At the moment, Team AMOE are taking each day as it comes and doing our best to keep smiling during these really uncertain times. We’re in regular contact with each other and even completed a “Great AMOE Bake Off” last Monday to lift team morale. We’re such a close team so it’s really odd for us to not be spending day in, day out with each other at the moment. We’ll certainly be making up for lost time once this is all over!
As a team, we would just like to thank every single one of our couples from the bottom of our hearts for the support they’ve shown us up to now, and beyond, by organising either the postponement of their wedding dates, or those who are hanging on for now and hoping to go ahead with your original date.
Remember, keep smiling, stay home and save lives!
Katie, Andy, Becky, Biddy, Gabi and Jasmine
